Tryout/Evaluation Information

Information on 2020/2021 Season Return to hockey will be updated on Thursday August 20.

Intro to Hockey - U5 (2016 birth year)/U6 (2015 birth year)

This is an instruction only/learn to play hockey division. No games are scheduled.

The coach will contact players families by phone in early October to advise of first ice time and answer any questions.
The U7 (2015 birth year) program will begin  Saturday October 17, 2020
The first session of the U7 (2016 birth year) program will be Saturday October 24, 2020

Intro to Hockey - U7 (2014 birth year)/U9 (2012-2013 birth years)

Players participating in U7, U9 Divisions can anticipate one scheduled practice and one scheduled game per week.

Evaluations are used to establish fair and equal teams. Once sessions have taken place, registrants will be assigned to teams. Evaluation ice times will be available on the website.  It is recommended that players confirm session times 24 hours prior to ensure they have the most current information.

All U9 (2012-2013 birth year) Players are also assigned to a Servus Credit Union Preskate Session - held prior to Evaluations

U7 (2014 birth year) Evaluation sessions will be held on Saturday October 17, 2020

Competitive Divisions (City League U11-U15)

U11 (2010-2011 birth year), U13 (2008-2009 birth year) and Y15 (2006-2007 birth year) City League evaluation Sessions will be held during the week of October 1 2019, teams will be drafted that week and first practices will follow.
All players who have registered for City League Hockey and did not tryout for an Elite level are invited to attend the Servus Credit Union Preskate session held the last week in September (times and groups can be found on the home page after Sept 15).

Teams will be drafted after evaluations have been completed and then posted on the website under the division tab with the first practice time.

Elite & High Performance Divisions (U11-U18 AAA, AA. Elite Female, A, U18 B) 

Tryouts are conducted for players enrolled in the Elite & High Performance divisions. 
Players not successful in making a AAA will be released to AA/Elite Categories or released back to their home association if not residing in the Red Deer Service Area.

Sessions are used to determine the registrants ability to play at the desired level. Players are responsible for checking the website for assigned ice times.
All correspondence will happen via the website, no phone calls will be made.
It is strongly recommended that players confirm ice times 24 hours prior to ensure they have the most current information.  
Players who have registered for Elite hockey, but are not selected to play at the desired division will be added to the City league evaluation groups as release are made from AA and A.
