Red Deer Minor Hockey Registration Information

General Requirements
  • ONLY a legal parent or legal guardian can register a player.
  • Parent/Guardian 1 contact is our primary contact for all information, so please DO NOT put in an emergency contact in this spot.
  • Players must reside in the Red Deer service area to participate in Red Deer Mino Hockey.
  • Players must register in their designated age group.
  • Players should register at the highest level they are interested in playing.
  • Register for ONLY 1 level.
  • Players will be moved to other levels that they qualify for, as the tryout progress. Packages and Fees will be adjusted accordingly.

Respect in Sport & Spordle Account Setup
  • One Legal parent/guardian must hold a valid Respect in Sport - Parent Certificate before registering with Red Deer Minor Hockey (as required by Hockey Alberta).
  • Parents must create an account on Hockey Canada’s Spordle platform and link their player(s) profile(s).
  • The following documents must be uploaded to each player’s profile under the “Documents” section:
    • Birth Certificate
    • Proof of Residency

Tryouts & Evaluations Communication
  • All tryout and evaluation dates and times will be posted on the RDMH website under the respective division.
    • Elite/High Performance: Information posted mid-August
    • Tiered Evaluations / City League: Information posted mid-September

Registration & Payment Details
  • The May registration fee (including applicable tryout fees) and any late fees must be paid at the time of registration.
      >Note: TRYOUT & LATE FEES are NON-Refundable.
  • All fees must be paid in full by October 31st, with the exception of AAA fees, whose deadline is December 15th.
    • Automatic withdrawals will be processed on October 28th to allow time for issues to be resolved before the October 31st deadline.
    • Players registered for AAA but moved down will have their adjusted payment processed on October 15th.
    • Packages will be adjusted based on the level your player is placed in. Automatic withdrawals will never exceed the amount owed, even if originally set higher. Once the package is updated, the total cost will adjust accordingly, and only that amount will be withdrawn.
    • IMPORTANT:  Making a manual payment does not cancel any scheduled automatic withdrawals. If a balance remains, the system will still process the next scheduled payment unless you reach out to the office to have it cancelled.

Registration Deadline & Late Fees
  • Registration deadline: May 31st
    You may still register after this date if space remains, but a $200 late fee per registration will apply.

Residency & Player Eligibility
  • Non-resident players are permitted in the following divisions:
    • Female Stream: U13 AA, U15 AA, U18 AA, U18 AAA
    • Mixed Stream: U13 AAA, U15 AAA, U16 AA, U17 AAA, U18 AAA
    • ALL other Levels: The requirements for players living outside of RDMH's boundaries have not changed
      • If you have played Minor Hockey before and wish to apply for an exception, you must complete the Player Movement form
      • If you are a first year family to hockey you can submit an Out-of -Boundary Exception request form
      • Commonly accepted extenuating circumstances include but is not limited to:  
        • Location of parent(s)/legal guardian’s workplace
        • School the player is attending
        • Distance of travel and accessibility to ice times
        • Availability in RDMH programsDriver’s License (Father or Mother)
      • Exceptions will be reviewed after August 5, and you will receive communication with a final decision by mid-August 
     Player boundaries are determined by Hockey Alberta and RDMH

Withdrawals & Refunds
Refund Policy - U11-U18:  Once a player has been drafted to a team, no refunds will be issued.
Intro to Hockey (U6-U9):  Refunds will be issued (minus a $25 Admin fee) until October 30th.
Tryout Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE
